Hello, nice to meet you.

I am Renate, graphic designer, foodie, impact entrepreneur & traveller. Ready to work with you.

Let's tell you a bit about myself

I am: Renate de Klein

I’m a designer who accidentally became a plant based baker, and I’m glad I did.

After ten years as a freelance graphic designer, creating logos, packaging, websites and photography for clients across the Netherlands and beyond, I started a blog about food, design and travel. A little market stall followed, and that stall grew into Sharp Sharp, my own vegan bakery brand. Ten years and more than three million cakes later, you could find it in Dutch supermarkets, including a 6-year partnership with Albert Heijn that began as a trial in just three stores.

Along the way I invented recipes from scratch, built a team of up to 15, and trained dozens of interns and fellow bakers. I also developed a plant-based cheesecake with an Ecoscore A, piloted in hospitals, and pitched it to investors. My favourite part has always been watching someone with an allergy or a dietary belief take a bite of cake they thought they’d never eat again.

Today I bring both sides of my career together: a designer’s eye for how things look and feel, and a food-maker’s instinct for what people actually want to taste. I’m interested in cookbooks, food brands, blogs, packaging and anything else where good design meets good food, especially when it leaves things a little better than it found them.

Have a project in mind? Let’s make something good together.
